Thoughts on upcoming stuff.

So, new survey, new leaks. Honestly, if Mattel didn't want their information to leak, then they should stop doing online surveys where it's so easy for people just to screencap everything and then repost it to whatever social media site they're on. But I digress. We fans do enjoy these leaks, so if Mattel keeps up their carelessness, we're just going to love them for it.

Monster High Freak du Chic Oh-my-ghoul! Possibly the best line MH has ever put out! It's beautiful, imaginative, and just plain fun! Frankie, Toralei, Jinafire, Honey and Rochelle all look smashing, and even Rochelle's playset looks amazing. And then there's Gooliope, the 17" goo-monster giantess. Such a bold move, and a very interesting way to introduce the larger size they'll apparantly be using for collectors dolls later on. All in all, this whole set needs to end up in my collection, if I so have to sell off other parts of my collection to make it fit! Ghoul Fair Cute concept, and apparantly tied to Freak du Chic. While I don't think I'll be aquiring any of them, I do like Elissabats look very much. Scarah is cute too, Howleen is slightly underwhelming, and it's great to see a second Heath. Boo York New Characters Seriously mixed feelings here. I'm completely in love with Luna Mothews and Elle Eedee, while Mouscedes King and Astra Nova do nothing for me. However, I will reserve my judgement regarding Astra until better pics show up. Boo York Other The frightseers, Draculaura, Clawdeen and Operetta, don't feel very exciting at all. Catty is... OTT and not in any good way. Nefera is quite pretty, but I still prefer her signature release. (Though I'll probably be picking this one up to compensate for my Nefera-less-ness.) And then there's Cleo and Deuce, who are gorgeous and perfect, and a must-have. Playset New school playset, huh? Hmm. Well, it's cool and all, and the tentacle feature made me smile, but it's far too large for me to want. Kids will probably lovi it though. Two Pack Lagoona and Gil. On rollerskates. Cute idea, but... Kind of boring, and a nope for me. Fright-Mares Oh ye gods. No. Just no. I'm sorry, but I just can't bring myself to like them. Might be a hit with the kids though, and it's a nice one-two directed at Hasbro.

They're cute. And that's about all I have to say about them. Usually Raven is the one I always like, but this one feels... not Raven-ish enough.Sugar CoatedAnother pass for me. They're all really cute, with Holly and Cedar fighting for the top spot, and even the playset has it's merits, but I'm not into this line for the cute, so...

School Spirit two pack

Again with the pseudo-Raven Raven. What happened? I mean, she looks fabulous up until and including the date night two pack, and then just... pffft. The pack itself is a cute idea, but it's a pass for me.

Way to Wonderland

No. Just what were the designers thinking? This COULD have been fantastic, and OTT in a good way, but the actual result is just horrifying. The only barely acceptible design is Maddie, and that's just because of her giant hat.

New signatures

Rosabella Beauty: Cute. Loving the glasses. But nope.

Alistair Wonderland: He really takes after his mother, doesn't he just. Oy.

Bunny Blanc: Cute bunny-girl. Liking the spats. But another miss for me.

Darling Charming: Y'know, when her illustration showed up, I though 'Oh, cool! A Royal with some fierce-ness, this could be interesting!'. And then her promo leaked. AaaaND - IT'S A SWING-AND-A-MISS FOR THE EAH TEAM! BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME! Seriously, where's the excellent knight-vibe the illustration had? The princess-y Marie Antoinette up-do? The darn sword?! Such a pity, she could have been a great doll.

Faybelle Thorn: Whatever I was expecting, it wasn't this. I mean, I guess she has some potential, and I'll reserve any further judgement until there are better pictures. In conclusion, Monster High has not only stepped up it's game, they've actually managed to floor me with their new ideas. Good on ya, MH team! And Ever After High... Well, I have a feeling they might not last much longer if they keep this up. But that's just my opinion.
