Dollhouse dreams

1/12 scale mansions and their accompanying marvellous minis created by some of the most taleted people on the planet, imho, are one of my favourite things to look at on flickr and pinterest. I came to the realisation long ago however that this particular hobby would never be visited by yours truly, for more reasons than I can count. However, 1/6 scale, that's a whole other kettle of fish. There's a plethora of nice vintage and realistic furniture out there, if you know where to look, that's very reasonably priced. And if you don't want vintage, there's a ton of new stuff that's easily customized to look realistic. And thank's to various doll brands, as well as Re-ment, there's no end to the perfectly scaled and detailed miniatures to create settings with. So why don't I just put a cork in it and get myself a dollhouse? Well, first of all, with our current living arrangements, we really don't have the room for one, not even an old Sindy townhouse or the like. And we especially don't have the room for the one I'd desperately want to build, had I had the proper equipment. But lo and verily, I think I've found a solution that might just suit me; 1970's vinyl-and-cardboard foldable houses! Now, I know Barbie had a few, and they're just adorable, but they're rarely avalable to me, as ebay sellers either won't ship here, or insist on the most extortionistic shipping prices I've ever seen. So, of course I turn to Japan, (yeah, you knew that was coming XP), and have started scouting for old Licca houses. I bid on one today, but it got away from me, due to having another auction go somewhat higher than I would have liked... But oh well. I'm not giving up! I have fallen head over heals for the awesome designs on the myriad of carry-houses that exist, and once I finally get my mits on one, I'll probably start hunting for another. Yup, I intend to make a collection of the wee bastards, if it so kills me. They're so fantastically kitschy that they'll serve as the ultimate backdrop for pics of pretty much any of my dolls.

Oh, and in case you were wondering; yes, I am completely mad, and I don't intend to change any time soon.
